Sorry to bring this subject up again. I have seen many posts already asking for this feature but the answers so far are problematic to us.
We have a Flex client and have integrated the JS version of Earth API via ExternalInterface using the HTML DIV to display the Earth on top of the Flash window (as described by www.cynergysystems.com's blog). This approach works fine if your Flex client doesn't have its own popup dialogs or popup menus. Because the Earth window is a DIV on top of the Flash window, all of the popups get hidden or clipped by the DIV window. We had to put in complex popup handling logics to switch the DIV off when a popup intersects with the DIV. Having this DIV window hanging out there is problematic. The popups are just the tip of the iceberg. Anytime you need to not show the Earth window you need to have special switching code to handle it (e.g., changing tabs where the Earth window is inside one of the tab panes). Furthermore, we cannot use many of the Flash special effects (like motion blur on a screen transition) without having to switch off the Earth DIV. This is not to mention the extra code bloat and maintenance issue with the switching logics. As for the Flex 3D perspective map, we cannot us it because our customer wants a sphere where all of the graphics we add to it render as curves (geodesics) instead of straight lines. So, if it is possible to have a Google Earth API for Flex, all of our DIV related display problems will go away and we will be eternally grateful to your team. :) - Paul -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API For Flash" group.
